What size truck for a 10x20 storage unit?
Penske 26 ft truck
A 10x20 storage unit (10'0" × 20'0", 8'0" ceiling) takes our whole 2‑bedroom list (73 pieces) and most of our 3‑bedroom list (111 of 117 pieces), by our 3D packing. To move a full one (the 2‑bedroom list plus as much as fits), the Penske 26 ft truck is enough: it takes our whole 3‑bedroom list (68% full). For just the 2‑bedroom list, the U‑Haul 15 ft truck.

What the storage companies say a 10x20 holds
- CubeSmart: what a 22-foot truck carries.
- Public Storage: the contents of a three-bedroom home.
By our packing, it holds our 2‑bedroom list whole and most of our 3‑bedroom list (111 of 117 pieces). Storage companies count a unit packed to the ceiling; our planner leaves the gaps a real load leaves, so treat their numbers as the most it could take.
Or move it in containers
Our whole 3‑bedroom list in moving containers instead of a truck: 2 × PODS 16 ft, or 7 U‑Haul U‑Boxes, or 6 U‑Pack ReloCubes, by our packing. Container, truck or storage unit.

Doesn't fit (3 home sizes)
Unit size from CubeSmart's 10x20 page ("Our 10×20 foot storage units are 10 feet wide, 20 feet deep, and 8 feet tall."), checked 2026-10-30; Public Storage lists the same floor size. Every company calls its sizes approximate, and ceilings vary by facility (some are 9 or 10 feet). The door, about 8'0" wide and 7'0" high, is a typical size, not a published one: measure yours.
