Budget truck size guide
Budget 12 ft truck dimensions: inside size and what fits
For small loads
The Budget 12' holds 34 of the 36 items on our studio list: good for a few large pieces or a small load.
- Inside (L × W × H)
- 10'0" × 6'3" × 6'0"
- Door opening
- 5'11" × 5'5"
- Room inside
- 375 cu ft
- Biggest home that fits
- A few large items

Room inside is length × width × height of the cargo box; Budget quotes 380 cu ft, measured its own way. Budget sells this as a 12' truck, but its own page gives 10'0" of inside length. We use the inside length.
Which home sizes fit
Doesn't fit (6 home sizes)
Each home size is a typical furniture list plus the box counts from a moving guide. Our packing fills about 70–80% of a truck; a careful pro load fits more.
Will big items fit?
Tightest fits first. Headroom is the space left above it as loaded; at the door is the clearance getting it in.
| Item | How it goes in | Headroom | At the door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Won't fit: Too big for the door opening (5'11" wide × 5'5" high) while kept upright (5'10" tall). It would have to be laid down to get in. | – | – | |
| leaning at 35° against the side wall | – | Tilt it | |
| standing upright | 1'½" | 5½" | |
| standing on its long edge | 1'0" | 11" | |
| standing upright | 2'0" | 1'5" | |
| standing upright | 2'4" | 1'9" | |
| standing upright | 2'11" | 2'4" | |
| standing upright | 2'11" | 2'4" | |
| standing upright | 2'11" | 2'7" | |
| standing upright | 3'5" | 3'4" |

Notes on these numbers
Page says specs are "based on the most common fleet rented by Budget Truck Rental and are not the exact measurements of all fleets. Specifications may vary based on the make, model, and year of the truck." Spec labels and values are rendered as two separate lists on the page; values were paired with labels by position (both lists had equal counts). No deck height, over-cab ('Mom's attic'), or outside length/width on the page. Interior length is 10’ 0” for a truck sold as 12' (page does not explain; possibly the name counts the over-cab, but the page does not say so). Layout glitch on this page: 'Seat Belts / Seats:' shows '8-14 MPG', so check alignment if re-scraping; the dimension rows before it pair cleanly (13 labels/13 values). outsideHeight is the page's 'Clearance'. No ramp listed. Listing card: 'Up to 3,610 lbs' (agrees). GVW 10,050 lbs. Outside sizes are left out on purpose: the source gives a clearance height or numbers from another page, not the box size. Wheel wells (29 Oct 2026): No source says whether the floor is flat or has wells; not modelled.
Loading tips for this truck
- The door is 5'5" high but the inside is 6'0": tall furniture has to be tilted to get in, then stood up.
- A king mattress is too wide to stand up straight in here (6'0" inside): lean it against the side wall, as our picture does.
- Load heavy furniture and appliances first, against the cab wall, and boxes last on top.
